Extra

Saturday, December 26th, 2009

Hey, Happy XMas everyone. Just moved out of Milan. I am in Lecce at my parents, relocating all my gear and record collection. The funniest side of this really boring process is finding old records and give em a listen after a lot of time. Lots of them suck, some others rock better than before. Jelly Tones from Ken Ishii is probably the first electronic record I’ve ever heard, it happened in 1998 but the record is actually from 1995. “Extra” is the opening track of this album and sounds to me as the most futuristic music ever even if it’s from 15 years ago.. and yes, probably I am posting this because I am still down with Japan so bad. I remember there was a misunderstanding about the cover of Jelly Tones -- I was obsessed with cartoon/comic Akira so when I saw the record sleeve I was SURE that it was going to be the Akira’s soundtrack. It’s not. It’s just another masterpiece coming from there. NOTE: This video is pretty much violent, hope you don’t care.

Emotion Electric

Tuesday, December 1st, 2009

Here we go with some classics. I knew A Guy Called Gerald because of his massive acid hit Voodoo Ray. I randomly found the “Emotion Electric” 12″ in a second hand market in Bologna and never expected to like it so much. I thought it was just a b-side of something else.. It actually is an excerpt of his live (!) show at John Peel Sessions in 1989. Well, right now it’s winter time so I guess these warm pads and mellow melodies can heat up your house a lil more. Spacey ambient emo house?
